Planning an event in London is easy until you reach the venue. The guest list is finalised. The date is set. Now you need a space that does not feel like a conference room with better chairs, and a terrace that is not just a roped-off corner of somewhere else.

The Atrium at Aki solves both problems. An entirely private floor accessed by a backlit spiral staircase. A dining room with hand-painted walls and marble-topped tables. And a terrace framed by floor-to-ceiling mirrors, Art Deco lamps, and a retractable glass roof that opens to the sky or closes against the weather. This is terrace hire that actually feels private.

The Atrium: a private floor with a retractable glass roof

Perched at the top of Aki London, The Atrium is an entirely private floor with its own bar, its own dining room, and a terrace that seats 12 for intimate dining or combines with the dining room for standing receptions of up to 60. Accessed by a backlit spiral staircase, it is separate from the restaurant below in every sense that matters.

The Arrival

A backlit spiral staircase

An entirely private floor, accessed by its own entrance. By the time your guests reach the top, they have already left the restaurant and the street behind. The climb is the transition.

The Terrace

A retractable glass roof

Framed by floor-to-ceiling mirrors and Art Deco lamps. Sun comes out, the roof slides back. Rain arrives, it closes in seconds. The terrace glows either way, and your event does not depend on the forecast.

The Dining Room

Hand-painted walls, private bar

Walls painted to evoke a Japanese garden. Marble-topped tables. A fully stocked bar dedicated to your event. Understated luxury that does not need to announce itself.

The Capacity

Intimate or expansive

12 seated on the terrace for an intimate dinner. 8 to 22 seated in the dining room. Combined for standing receptions of up to 60 guests. Flexible enough for the event you are planning.

The Food

Event menus from £75

Japanese cuisine built for the occasion. Sushi platters, robata-grilled dishes, wagyu, and champagne. Bespoke menus available for those who want to design their own from scratch.

After Hours

Kiyori, the vault bar below

Your booking does not have to end when the meal does. Kiyori cocktail lounge waits below in the original bank vaults. A lower-lit, looser space to offer your guests who are not quite ready to leave.

5 things a private terrace should deliver

Privacy

A space that belongs to your group alone

The default London terrace hire is a sectioned-off corner of a restaurant, still within earshot of other tables, still sharing the same service flow. It is private in name only.

The Atrium is an entirely separate floor. Your own bar. Your own staircase. No one walks through your event to reach the toilets. The only people here are the ones you invited.

Weather

Open sky or closed roof, your call

British weather and terrace bookings are a gamble nobody wants to take. A fixed terrace means you are either baking in unexpected sun or huddling under umbrellas when the forecast was wrong.

A retractable glass roof. Sun comes out, it slides back. Rain arrives, it closes in seconds. Art Deco lamps keep the terrace glowing regardless. Your event does not depend on the forecast.

The Food

Menus built for events, not afterthoughts

The standard event menu is a set list the kitchen can batch-cook and plate in advance. It feeds people. It does not impress them.

Kiku enu (£75 per person) or Matsu Menu (£140 per person). Sushi platters, robata-grilled black cod, wagyu gyoza, sakura prawn tempura, milk chocolate namelaka. Japanese cuisine built for the occasion, with a bespoke option for those who want to design their own menu.

The Arrival

An entrance that sets the tone

Most venues point you towards a door and say “your table is over there.” The arrival is a transaction, not a transition.

Aki’s private terrace The Atrium is accessed via a backlit spiral staircase. The climb is the transition. By the time guests reach the top, they have physically and mentally left the restaurant below. The evening already feels different before anyone has picked up a menu.

The Team

A team that builds the event around you

The default events experience is a coordinator who sends you the PDF and disappears. You are left to figure out the details alone.

Bespoke planning from enquiry to execution. DJ lineups, florals, styling, AV equipment, menu consultation. You arrive with a fully formed brief or a blank page. Either works. Our events team is at events@akilondon.com or +44 7402 847957.

Your event, in one of London’s most private spaces

A private terrace with a retractable glass roof. A dining room walled in hand‑painted gardens. A backlit spiral staircase that announces your arrival before you reach the top. The Atrium was not designed to be a blank canvas for any occasion; it was made for occasions that refuse to settle. Every detail, from the marble‑topped tables to the Art Deco lamps, was chosen to make an event feel less like a booking and more like an experience.

Aki’s terrace, The Atrium, brings together Japanese event menus from £75, a dedicated events team, and a private floor that opens to the sky or closes against the weather. It is a Marylebone venue that does not need to try hard – the building spent a century as a bank, and its bones still carry that weight. All you need to do is decide who to invite.

The Atrium at Aki London, our private, glass‑roofed terrace at 1 Cavendish Square, is now open for hire, welcoming intimate celebrations and milestone gatherings throughout the season.
